As of 23rd August 2007, there are a total of 10.57 million Nintendo Wiis sold worldwide. Despite of current shortages in the console in many regions, Wii has in a short period of less than one year (it was released to the world in November 2006) overtaken Xbox360 as the market leader in home console sales. Microsoft’s problematic console have sold 10.51 million units since its launch in November 2005, a full year ahead of Nintendo’s launch.
For comparison sake, Sony’s PS3 is trailing at a distant third with 4.32 million units sold.
